FAQs About Private Events

What is your capacity? - For all private events, this can vary based on the day of the week. We strive to satisfy the needs of our guests and we do our best to anticipate the expected number of regular guests we receive. Therefore, a private event can go as high as 120 and as low as 50. We also do have an area outside that will accommodate several large tents if you think your event will be larger than our walls can handle.

Can I host a political event at Alexandria Brewing Company? Yes, you can but it must be closed to our guests. As a company, Alexandria Brewing Company is politically neutral. You may not use our logo, name, or any of our branding for your political event with the exception of informing your group on where the event is being held. If your group is trying to bring in guests from our front room, you will be asked to leave. Your event is subject to our standard rate for room rental. We will not “co-host” the event and we will not advertise your event through any of our social media, web, or physical means.

We do not think you have sufficient seating for our event. Can I bring my own? - Absolutely. We are also happy to rent tables, chairs, and tablecloths for you. We will not up charge you for doing this, just pass what the rental company charges on to you. However, if you need help setting them up you may be subject to a labor charge.

My party is roughly 20 to 30 people. Should I schedule a private event? - No, we require a minimum of 50 people to rent our backroom. We do have the ability to reserve tables for larger groups (above 15). We do this by placing a "Reserved" table tent on up to 4 tables roughly a half hour to an hour before your party is due to arrive. If we were to fill up before we could place the the sign and the group sitting at the tables we planned to reserve for your party does not leave before your party arrives, we will not ask them to move. We will ask you to wait until we have availability.

I want to rent out your whole brewery on a Saturday night. Can I do it? - No. We would not want to keep out our regular customers. While we appreciate you wanting to hold your event here, we would have too many others that would have a bad taste in their mouth if we were to close completely during a regular night for us. No matter how lucrative it may be for us, in the long run, it will not be worth it. With that said, you can reserve our backroom on a Saturday night.

Can you cater our event? - No, but our restaurant partner, Bender’s Pub Grub, can. In fact, our contract with them requires you to use them as you caterer. They are very flexible in what they can do and are more than willing to develop a menu that fits your event’s needs. For questions about their catering options, please fill out the form on their website, www.benderspubgrub.com.

If we do not want to go with Bender’s Pub Grub, can we do something different? Our contract with Bender’s Pub Grub requires you to use them as your caterer. If they can not meet your needs, you are able to bring in another licensed caterer or restaurant’s food. We will not allow any other catering or food unless we receive written permission from Bender’s Pub Grub for your event with your signed contract. Outside beverages and coolers are prohibited. Home prepared food with the exception of cake and desserts are not allowed due to our food service license.

Can my guests run individual tabs? - Yes.

My event will be larger than your capacity. What are my options? The best option is to hold your event outside or have a combination indoor/outdoor event. We have worked with several companies to provide tents, tables, and seating for outdoor events.

An indoor/outdoor event is your event occupying the backroom and outside. We still recommend a tent for the outdoor portion and our staff may be a little more active in your event in order to make sure we are not violating fire code.

Why do you require a credit card number on your contract? The main reason we require this is for damages that may occur at your event, in the event a member of your party brings in outside alcohol, or your party fails to tip the required amount of gratuity per our contract. Assuming there is no damages, your contract gets shredded once your event ends. If you are uncomfortable emailing your contract to us with your card number on it, feel free to drop it off to our staff at least two weeks prior to your event.

Do you require a deposit for my event? Yes, full payment for the rental is due two weeks prior to your event.

If I cancel, can I get my money refunded? Yes, up to a point. We will allow you to cancel your event up to one week prior to your chosen date. Please see the event contract for more information. If you need to reschedule due to a reasonable emergency (hospitalization, illness, family death, etc…), there is no charge to reschedule.

How do I book a private event? - Fill out the form on our Private Events page. Once you settle on a date, our event coordinator will have you fill out our contract. We will assign you an event coordinator who will work with you and answer any questions you may have leading up to your event. Your contract can be emailed to Ann or dropped off at the brewery.
